Responsibilities of Department Superintendents
To accept and record exhibits entered in each department.
To label exhibits according to instructions.
To be present when exhibits are judged, to assist the judge in making a record of premiums awarded.
Place ribbons on the exhibits.
Be present to check out exhibits to the owner, 2pm to 4pm Sunday, following the fair.
Superintendent has the right to reject unclean items or items made or finished in previous year.
Educational Exhibits

Rules and Regulations:
Each adult and junior group entering an educational exhibit will receive 20 points to help defray expenses of setting up an exhibit. Booths are for educational groups only.
Group exhibits will be classed and given points as follows:
*Excellent-30 points*Good-20 points*Fair-15 points
Space must be reserved by calling Hazelene McCray at 870-460-6270
Junior Division and Intermediate Division will consist of entries of FFA, FHA, 4-H Clubs and Scouts. Minimum age 6 yrs old by fair time.
Booths are not transferable.
No item can be shown as being for sale or for raffle.
General Rules and Regulations
Competition for prizes and awards is limited to exhibits from Drew County.
There will be no entry fee.
All individuals must be entered by Monday, 1-6pm, September 30,2024
Exhibits other than livestock cannot be removed before Sunday following the fair. They can be checked out between 2 and 4pm Sunday, following the fair. Any exhibits removed before that time will be automatically disqualified except by special permission by the President of the Drew County Fair Board.
Competent judges will be furnished by the management of the Fair and their decisions will be final. Judging is closed to the public.
The Drew County Fair and Livestock show will not be responsible for any loss of entry from any cause. Every precaution will be taken to see that all entries area protected.
No liability is assumed the Drew County Fair and Livestock Show for any injury to spectators or exhititors.
The Drew County Fair and Livestock Show reserves the right to amend announced prizes if an emergency warrants it.
When there is no competition an exhibit will be give first, second or no premium, according to merit.
Proof of ownership will be required by the management if any doubt arises as to ownership of an entry.
All exhibit entries will be made by the respective department superintendent listed.
Educational exhibits must be registered in the Extension Office..
There will be Adult and Junior Division in each department and they will be judged separately.
Classes may be entered by Adult and Junior exhibitors as listed in the catalogue.
If there is no class for an exhibit, it will be entered for exhibition only. It will receive no premium money.
Entries must be made by exhibitor and must have been completed since last year’s fair.
The superintendents reserve the right to refuse soiled items for exhibit.
Exhibits must be checked out by the person in charge of the exhibit.
Juniors will be classified as 6 to 19 years of age and unmarried.
Point system: Blue-1st Place, Red-2nd Place and White-3rd Place.
Best of show (15 points) will be awarded to the outstanding exhibit in each Home Economics Department. Best of Show exhibits may be taken to the State Fair. Forms available from Extension Home Economist.
Items lacking signs of quality may not be judged.

Booths will be first-come, first-served. The cost is $25, payable when reserved. All booths must be set up by 6pm, Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Booths will be open evenings Tuesday through Saturday from 6pm to 9pm. Pick a number and give us a call. Please bring your own tables, extension cords, fans and chairs and plan to stay through Saturday night. Security will be provided. Contact Tammy Stain at 870-723-9282.

All exhibits must be canned since the last Fair, by the person making the exhibit.
Products must be canned in clean standard home canning jars (exhibits canned in mayonnaise, pickle or coffee jars will be disqualified).
All jars must be sealed with standard lids and rings; no paraffin
All food must be preserved according to USDA guidelines
There are new recommendations for all food preservation exhibits in county, district and state fairs. These recommendation reflect current food science and food safety guidelines.
What you need to know:
*Low acid foods, like vegetables, must be pressure canned.
*High acid and acidified foods, like tomatoes, pickles, jams and jellies, must be processed in a boiling water canner or pressure canner.
*No canned squash including summer, zucchini or spaghetti, pureed or mashed pumpkin, seet potatoes, or potatoes are allowed. Pickled summer squash and zucchini are allowed.
*Canning jars must be of appropriate size and of clear mason type
*Lids and rings should be metal. No plastic lids or rings will be allowed
*Your entry should be preserved within the past 12 months

Cakes and pies will be cut and sampled by the judges, and a portion kept for display.
